The breath is very important, it helps you remove obstacles both in the body and mind. If you can use the breath when you go through emotions or even pain you will feel yourself free from them. When I had my second son I had done a lot of preparation mentally and the breath helped me through the pain of giving birth. I actually did not feel so much pain as I dared to stay with the feeling and the pain and breath through it.
